DESIGNS THAT SHINE - MARCH 2007

Polk Place Home-Based Business Lets Women Play Dress-Up

Noah Drive resident Dana Reid says her long career with Premier Designs, a “high-fashion” jewelry company, began shortly after graduate school. “I was looking for something flexible and profitable. After hearing some friends (speak of their) success with the business, I became interested and began my own business. Premier offered the opportunity to make great income. Not only has it provided extra money, it is my full-time income that allows me to support myself and my daughter,” Ms. Reid says.
“Home-based businesses allow you to work from home around your family’s schedule. Since I am a single mom, that is important to me. Premier doesn’t limit me because I work from home. It has given me the opportunity to meet people from all over the country, many of whom are my closest friends,” she says.
Ms. Reid has done half-a-dozen home jewelry shows here in Polk Place. She says she works hard to “make my hostesses’ job easy. First, they give me a list of people to invite to their shows. I send all invitations about 10 days in advance. Second, I ask that they make reminder phone calls just so we can be prepared for drawings and refreshments. Our hostess plan is the best! My average hostess receives about $250 in free jewelry of her choice from our current line. It can be more or less depending on the amount of your sales. A Premier Fashion show is also a lot of fun. The hostess and her guests learn fashion tips for the coming season,” she says.
Premier Designs Jewelry is, by all accounts, quite affordable and is distinguished, Ms. Reid says, by the company’s “Golden Guarantee” against manufacturer defects.
“The reason accessorizing is so important is we only have one chance to make a good first impression. If we feel good about the way we look, it makes us feel better about everything we do. Also, when people first meet you they make 11 assumptions about you based on your appearance. High-fashion jewelry is not a big investment so you can get the ‘look’ without making a big financial commitment,” Ms. Reid says.
