Gregory Barnes, M.D., Phd., and his wife Kay, an attorney who has served in the JAG Corps, happily make their home on Sontag with children Amy (9) and Joshua (13). Kay, an at-home mother for many years, is involved in various creative pursuits including writing and illustrating a children’s book while Greg, the Associate Director for the Pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, spends much of his time in research for a cure for the disease. In addition, he sees many of the toughest pediatric epilepsy cases as he carries a limited patient caseload. “He feels that God has called him (to this),” Kay says of Gregory’s work.
“I spend one day a week seeing patients and about five days a week doing laboratory work,” Greg says. Kay says Greg’s hobbies include “Fishing, fishing and fishing!”
Amy Barnes loves to read and write (see “Young Writers” portion of the newsletter) as well as play the piano. Joshua is a master of the more complicated Lego creations and loves Star Wars and anything relating to Egypt or the “Titanic.”
