April, 2007 Neighbor of the Month Stacy Whitson
My husband Kevin, daughter Kelly and I moved to Polk Place this past December. I had always admired the houses and how the neighborhood always looked so neat and clean. The couple I refer to as “Mom and Dad” are actually my late husband’s parents (Bill and Anne Veevers of Polk Place Drive). They have lived here in Polk Place for 3 years. Through them I had already met some wonderful people. Brad and I had lived beside Mom and Dad for almost 10 years when he passed away. Kelly and I have missed being so close to them. We have always been a close family so it is great for Kelly that she can walk six doors up the street to see her grandparents and that I can raid the refrigerator once again.
When Kevin and I married two years ago, we found that we needed additional space. Combining two households does pose some challenges and we found that we loved the houses here and with Mom and Dad up the street the fit was perfect for our wants and needs. I miss my old neighbors in Dallas Downs but we have met and formed wonderful relationships with my new neighbors. I love the friendliness of the people who live here and I really enjoy seeing everyone out working in the yard, walking with friends and children or walking their dogs. This is a nice and quaint neighborhood and we feel so welcome and at home here. I don’t think I have been here long enough to make any improvement suggestions at this point but since my dad is on the board you can bet that I will go straight to the “top” with any that I may have in the future.
I am a “social butterfly” as Mom calls me. I guess you could see that in my day-to-day activities. I left a job with Nashville Government after 12 years to be able to become a realtor. There is not a day that I don’t get up and absolutely love what I do. Contrary to popular belief, real estate is not all about money; it is about people and their hopes, dreams and new beginnings. To be able to help people achieve those dreams is an awesome experience. There is nothing else in life that I would rather do than real estate. Also, I have been in the Franklin Lions Club for eight years and am the new Director of the Social committee for our subdivision. So I guess Mom used the right term with “social”, huh? I love to garden, read and spend time at home with my family in my spare time.
I moved to Williamson County 11 years ago so Brad and I could put Kelly in Williamson County schools. She is currently a Sophomore at Independence High School and will graduate in spring of 2009. My husband Kevin has worked for Nashville Government for 28 years and has also loved living here. His parents live in Forrest Crossing and he has a brother that lives on Fair Street.
My family and I love the quaintness of downtown Franklin and the ease with which we can get to Cool Springs or Nashville. The nostalgia that surrounds Franklin is hard to put into words but it is another reason that I love living here.
